My Grandmother Pope was Joanna Cawood and the daughter of Hiram Cawood and Sally Britain. She told me many times of her Grandfather John Cawood, a Federal Marshal, being ambushed and killed by the Halls and Brownings. When I was a young boy I went with her and my grandfather to visit John and Chad Cawood, on Little Creek, many times. She pointed out to me the site where her Grandfather John was killed.
